Eugene is highly experienced in working with start-ups and early-stage businesses, having supported over 600 early-stage businesses at SETU. He chairs the national network of New Frontiers programme managers and also has access to multiple networks relevant to early-stage businesses. He has significant experience in international business development and brand growth having held senior management positions with organisations such as Diageo (Baileys), Waterford Crystal and A.T. Cross, where he developed and implement strategic development plans across multiple, diverse markets. He has lived in the USA, Europe and the Middle East and has conducted business in over 50 countries during 18 years of international business development roles.
Eugene completed doctoral research in 2018 on how external investment assists high-potential early-stage business to develop sustainable competitive advantage. He has an MBA (International) from the University of New England and a Post Graduate Diploma in Enterprise Development. He is a Fellow of the Irish Institute of Training & Development and a NCGE (UK) Entrepreneurship Education Fellow. He has lectured in Strategic Management and Marketing at SETU and University College Cork. Eugene was appointed Waterford City Coordinator for Start-up Gathering Waterford (2015) by the Minister of State for Business and Employment.
